Trunk or Treat

It's never too early for some Halloween fun. Bring the whole family and join our real estate agents for Old Dominion Realty's 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 30.

What is "Trunk or Treat?"

Traditionally, kids have donned their Halloween costumes and walked door-to-door through the neighborhood, gathering sweet treats along the way. Trunk or treat puts a reverse spin on this popular activity by bringing candy to the kids.

These events first began showing up in the mid-1990s. At the time, they were usually referred to as "fall festivals," with the trunk or treat term gaining favor in the new century.

Simply put, trunk or treat is holiday tailgating. Participants decorate their automobile trunks and fill them with candy. Everyone then gathers in a parking lot, where kids can help themselves to candy from the open trunks.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Did you know that a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes in the United States? Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in women from the United States, aside from skin cancers. Early detection is one of the keys to successful treatment of breast cancer, which is one reason why it's so important to raise awareness about the disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there are many ways to contribute to the cause. Our real estate agents have more details on how you can help, including participating in local fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Bill Blose Memorial Scholarship
On Giving Tuesday, our team at Old Dominion Realty can find no topic more fitting than recognizing the work of the Bill Blose Memorial Scholarship Fund, founded in honor of a former member of our team. Bill Blose was a special man – father to seven girls, exceptional real estate agent, beloved friend, and a strong supporter of community initiatives. While Bill may have left us too soon, his memory and charitable spirit live on through the Bill Blose Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarship grants to local student-athletes each year. Our real estate agents are here to tell you more about the Bill Blose Memorial Scholarship Fund, and about memories of the wonderful man that the fund honors.

The Bill Blose Memorial Scholarship Fund Recognizes Spotswood High Senior Student-Athletes

"As your children are growing up you need to be their parent, not their best friend so that when your children become adults, you can be their best friend."

Bill Blose

While the scholarship fund is our primary focus in this post, our team can't help but think back to the memories of sharing an office with Bill Blose every day. According to Linda S. Goodson, Old Dominion team member and co-worker of Bill's:

"Bill was a gentleman who was a positive force, offering uplifting advice and support to everyone. He had a kind soul and a competitive spirit. He was one of a kind, and he is missed."

We're On the Grow and On the Move

Augusta Office Open House

Exciting news – that's for sure!  Old Dominion Realty has been growing.  So much so we found ourselves in need of more space for our Augusta County real estate office.

Not to worry, we didn't go far.  You'll find us at our brand new office location in the Myers Corner Community located at 19 Myers Corner Drive, Suite 101 in Staunton, VA.  Myers Corners is a mixed-use development with a 30-acre business park and a residential community located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Why Myers Corner?  It's pretty simple:  Our team wanted a larger office space in a high-profile location with easy access to major routes like Interstate 64, Interstate 81, and Route 250, but close to home.  And Myers Corner was the perfect fit.
