Harrisonburg Places to Cheat on Your Diet
Dieting or not, sometimes you just need to indulge your taste buds. If you're in town shopping for Harrisonburg homes for sale, this may just be one of those times. After all, shopping for a new home is hard work, and it can be a bit stressful. If you are new to the area, you might be wondering just where the best places are to find that satisfying treat you crave. Here are six spots in Harrisonburg to cheat on your diet:

  1. Bella Gelato & Pastries - 49 W. Water St., Harrisonburg
This popular spot has a lot to offer. There is an array of baked goods, including fresh bread, croissants, and other pastries and treats prepared daily. They also serve their award-winning gelato, made by hand with milk sourced from a local creamery. You can also treat your taste buds at the Bella Gelato & Pastries espresso and coffee bar, with coffees made from locally roasted beans, or enjoy specialty teas, like their house-made spicy chai.

Kitchen Renovation - Old Dominion Realty

Our real estate agents at Old Dominion Realty are often asked how a seller can raise a home's value before going to market. No matter whether you're planning to put your house on sale or want to spruce things up, a kitchen remodel can bring plenty of value.

It's also one of the most complex home improvement projects, so it's vital to do the right way. You can save time, money, and stress with these six kitchen renovation tips:

  1. Start With a Budget
No matter if you plan to spend $1,000 or $10,000, the budget for a kitchen renovation is where you should begin. You can use this as a basic guideline for dividing up your funds:

    • Cabinets and hardware - 29%
    • Design and installation - 22%
    • Walls, ceilings, floors - 16%
    • Appliances, ventilation - 14%
    • Plumbing and electrical - 9%
    • Miscellaneous - 10%

Buy House at Christmas
When you think about tinsel, mistletoe, and candles all aglow, do you envision yourself decking the halls in a different home? If you're daydreaming about Harrisonburg homes for sale as you plan your holiday shopping, it's time to add "New Home" to the top of your Christmas wish list.

Our real estate agents enjoy sharing their biggest house-hunting secret: The year-end holiday season is one of the best times to buy a home. Here are a few reasons why.

  1. You'll Be the Center of Attention
Many buyers begin abandoning their home searches as their children return to school. Before the holidays arrive, they get caught up in annual activities and seasonal celebrations. The local real estate market slows down even more as potential buyers begin shopping, cooking, and preparing for the upcoming holidays. All those missing house hunters clear the way for you and other serious holiday homebuyers. You can relax, take your time, and view homes without having to navigate a crowd. Real estate agents have more available time to spend with you as well. They'll do their best to meet your demands and help you negotiate your home deal.

Hardy County Library Renovation Recap
Just like most residents of Hardy County, our real estate agents anxiously awaited the unveiling of renovations to the Hardy County Library.  At its Grand Re-Opening Celebration earlier this year, what attendees found was a beautiful Hardy County Library ready for the future with its new bright, spacious, airy, and clean new look.

A New Beginning for the Library

The Hardy County Public Library has been at the heart of Moorefield, WV for decades, but by the turn of the millennium, this treasured institution had begun to show its age. The library celebrated its 75th birthday in 2014, and just three years later, the ground was broken on a new renovation project that would revamp and extend the current library to include the neighboring property – formerly Puffenberger Jewelry.

Moorefield Christmas
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and that may never be truer than in Moorefield, WV. Our Moorefield real estate agents are here to share some of the sights and sounds you won't want to miss during the Christmas season.

Celebrate the Season in Moorefield, WV

When should the Christmas tree go up--before Thanksgiving or after Thanksgiving?  It's a discussion more than one Moorefield homeowner has had with their families. No matter what your personal resolution might be, the Moorefield Lions Club along with the Hardy County Historical Society and the Town of Moorefield say "after Thanksgiving" is the answer.
